What is a first contact call?
A first contact call is a short introductory call and a chance to meet to see if we are a good fit for each other.
What is included in a first contact call?
In our first contact call - we’ll talk about ourselves so we get a chance to get to know each other and we’ll cover the outline plans you have for the event. Basic event requirements and we’ll cover fees and next steps. I don’t charge for first contact call,
How many consultations/conversations will we need before the ceremony?
We can have as many conversations as we need to make sure we have the perfect event. If it’s a simple ceremony you are after it will take fewer calls if it’s a complicated event it may be more.
How will we stay in touch?
I use WhatsApp to stay in contact we will also use e mail to share scripts and talk about script changes and clarify ideas.
Can I change my mind about ceremony elements?
Of course, you can, the event needs to be perfect for you and everyone involved. Of course, once we have agreed the script and we are close to the event date, changes may be more difficult.
How late can I make changes to the ceremony
We’ll detail deadlines in a contract so we are both clear about where we are.
Emergency changes due to unforeseen circumstances can be made on the day if necessary. I’m good at going with the flow. But it’s really better to have a final script agreed and finalised well in advance of the ceremony so you don’t have to think about it. You will have plenty of other things to think about
Do you ask for a deposit?
For weddings and vow renewals Yes, I do - and the details will be in our contract. For funerals, memorials and life captures, I don’t normally ask for deposits.
What happens if we feel you are not the right celebrant for us?
We are both free to decline a working partnership. We both need to feel comfortable with each other and have confidence that we can work together to create that perfect ceremony. If that decision is made at or just after the introductory call there is no fee.
If it’s later in the relationship there may be a fee for work undertaken up to that point.
Can I include my ideas for the ceremony even if they are a bit unusual ?
Yes of course - it’s my job to weave preferences and choices into a ceremony and come up with ideas too.
Any ceremony we create together will be completely original. And completely representative of those involved.
Are your fees negotiable?
No - I charge a fair rate for my time and creativity. If you have lots of extra parts to your ceremony or you are making lots of changes I may add to my fee but it will all be laid out in my contract, once I have an idea what you are looking for. My starting rates are on my webpage and are competitive and in line with my local colleagues.
How do we handle paying for your services?
I will invoice you and you can bank transfer both the deposit and the final fee.
What do you handle as part of your service?
I will write and deliver a bespoke ceremony tailored to your requirements and personality.
I will remain in contact throughout the creative process and will drive the process to ensure we are on track.
I am in charge of the ceremony and the ceremony space once the ceremony has begun.
I will deliver a polished ceremony with style and confidence.
What happens on the day of the ceremony?
I will arrive at the venue at least 1 hour prior to a wedding - 20 minutes before a crematorium service 30 minutes before a memorial and a celebration of life service. For a life capture I will arrive at the agreed time.
I will liaise with the venue, or any other contracted professionals involved, make sure we have everything we need, I’ll be there for you to give you confidence and peace of mind. We’ll be ready to go on time.
